Free Audiobooks and Ebooks on OVERDRIVE.

Free Graphic Novels (DC, Marvel, Image, etc), Music, TV shows, and music on HOOPLA.

Free music that you can KEEP on FREEGAL

You are PAYING for all this with your tax money - USE THEM. Most likely systems will have all 3 or 2 out of 3, so if you aren’t sure call your local library’s reference/information desk and how you can get set-up or started.

Hey, highkey from a library worker:

Overdrive has a new mobile app called LIBBY I find it easier to use.  It’s the same content as Overdrive just better for mobile.  Overdrive and Libby both let you send items to your kindle as well.

    Can confirm Overdrive is amazing.

I work in the largest library system in my state (17 branches in total).

I use it not only for ebooks, but movies as well.

Other FREE resources to check with your library for are:

    • Freegal Music (download and keep music, including current music)
    • Hoopla Digital (borrow ebooks, e-audiobooks, e-graphic novels, stream movies)
    • Kanopy (stream movies; also available on Roku!)
    • Axis360 (usually hot or just released ebooks)

    If you don’t have a library card…

    GET ONE!

If someone says libraries are a thing of the past…

BOOP THEM IN THE NOSE WITH YOUR KINDLE!

Don’t discount libraries as “quiet” places.

    THEY ARE ALIVE!!!

    THEY ARE LOUD!!!

THEY ARE YOUR DOORWAYS TO KNOWLEDGE!!

  4. Native cultures are not interchangeable.

    dragons-and-gays:

    finding-my-culture:

Every single Native culture is distinct and unique, though many share similarities, and lumping them together is ridiculous. And while some practices are pan-Indian, the vast majority are not.

Kokopelli isn’t “Native American,” He’s Hopi.

Dreamcatchers aren’t “Native American,” they’re Ojibwe.

War bonnets aren’t “Native American,” they’re Plains Indian.

Wendigoag aren’t “Native American,” they’re Algonquian.

Totem poles aren’t “Native American,” they’re Northwest Coastal Indian.

Skinwalkers aren’t “Native American,” they’re Navajo.

Stop homogenizing our cultures. Every Native culture is beautiful and unique and deserves to be treated that way.

Don’t fall into the trope of “pan Indian”. Fucking teepees and totem poles never existed together. Totem poles are permanent structures, teepees are fucking tents for nomadic peoples. First Nations and indigenous cultures are all deep and uniquely complex, it would be like confusing England with Russia.

Long ago before the windows update that killed the drivers for sai I was drawing a little comic for Lustang (Roy!Lust)

Unfortunatelly, I lost almost all the will to finish it and it such a shame not sharing this content just because I don’t have the time and motivation I used to have.

    enjoy <3

things i say that confuse and worry my coworkers:

    • “happy birthday” every time i hand them something
    • “well, that’s not ideal” whenever something is going wrong
    • “we are in the timeline that god abandoned” whenever i’m mildly inconvenienced
    • “can’t you see that your fighting is tearing this family apart?” whenever two or more coworkers are arguing
    • referring to taking medication as “eating medicine”
    • “time to go back to prison!” when putting animals back in their cages
    • referring to inanimate objects as (s)he, particularly when i break something and say “oh no, he’s dead.” this concerns them especially when i follow it up with “that’s not ideal”
    • “what are they gonna do, fire me?”

I work in a blood bank, and constantly refer to blood types as flavors, such as “Oh, you need two units? What flavor is he?” And my older coworkers just look at me confused but my coworker that’s my age doesn’t miss a beat and responds “A Pos”

this is probably my favorite comment on this post so far
